Elk Grove Union High School District Regional Occupational Program is quite unique.  It is only open for high school students.  It is licensed by the State of California Department of Laboratory Field Services.  Students must be 18 at the time of course completion.

The program requires completing 270 hours for eligibility to take the national certification exam.  In the required externship, the student will complete 50 or more successful venipunctures and 10 successful skin punctures.  This will be done under the supervision of a phlebotomy preceptor over the course of 40 or more hours.

MTI College’s phlebotomy program is offered in conjunction with its medical assistant program.  You can also elect to take only the phlebotomy program.  Upon completion of the program, students can take the National Certified Phlebotomy Technician exam (NCPT) and the Certified Phlebotomy Technician exam (CPT1).  The program includes a 40-hour unpaid externship.  This externship is required by California law.
